A safe way to view the solar eclipse
Do NOT use eclipse glasses or handheld viewers with cameras, binoculars, or telescopes.
There's only one way to directly view a solar eclipse safely: with approved safety glasses or solar viewers.
How to view the eclipse without glasses
If you don't have eclipse glasses, you can still enjoy the spectacle through pinhole cameras or indirect viewing methods.
To make a pinhole camera, poke a small hole in a piece of cardboard or paper. Hold the cardboard up to the sun and look at the image of the eclipse projected onto a surface behind the cardboard.
For indirect viewing, find a shaded area and look at the eclipse's reflection in a puddle of water or on the ground.
